Waterloo, Ontario—The RapidMind Developer Platform 2.0 from RapidMind Inc. is designed to help developers of high-performance computing and enterprise software accelerate their applications on graphics processing units (GPU) and the Cell Broadband Engine.

According to RapidMind, using its latest platform will boost enterprise system application performance by up to 30 times. With RapidMind Developer Platform 2.0, application developers leverage the performance benefits of multi-core processors, without sacrificing the simplicity of single-core programming.

Developers program in standard C++ compilers and development tools, and the RapidMind software parallelizes across multiple cores, intelligently mapping code as appropriate to the cores that are available to the application. As a result, the RapidMind Developer Platform 2.0 renders applications hardware-independent and capable of automatically scaling to additional cores.

With the addition of Cell Broadband Engine and updated GPU support, RapidMind Developer Platform 2.0 provides the widest hardware support in the industry (Cell BE and NVIDIA and ATI/AMD GPUs), according to the company.

RapidMind Developer Platform 2.0 also provides an expanded list of target operating systems to provide comprehensive support for Windows and Linux-based development. Expanded API now offers the broadest applicability in high performance and enterprise computing applications
