This ranking is similar to previous rankings with Qualcomm, Broadcomm, Nvidia and SanDisk retaining their positions. The disappearance of ATI Technologies Inc., acquired by Advanced Micro Devices Inc., has allowed Marvell to continue its rise and MediaTek also continues to climb.
The fabless semiconductor sector is active in terms of startup companies and 39 companies raised $500.8 million in the first quarter, the FSA said. This represents a 32 percent quarter-over-quarter dollar amount increase and a 18 percent increase in the number of deals closed, the organization added.
